Overview
- The Tenets of Crime is a collection of Investigations that can be found in the Diamond District of the city of Gotham, inside quest locations for the story arc Gotham's Gang War's Episode 3. There are 5 parts that comprise this set.
Synopsis
- Intergang and its cultists believe that the Crime Bible prophesizes their conquest of the world through Gotham. Learning more about its heretical tenets could help cripple their takeover attempts.
Part 1: Chapter 8 Verse 23
- Zone: Gotham City
- Region: East End
- Instance: Intergang Penthouse
- Location: On the lower floor, by the stairs to the recreational area.
- Investigation: Whisper A'Daire: " The Book of Blood. Chapter 8 Verse 23. By Deceit ye have freed yourself from the illusion of truth, and thus do I name the First Lesson of Blood."
Part 2: Chapter 40 Verse 37
- Zone: Gotham City
- Region: Burnley
- Instance: Mysterious Warehouse
- Location: In the first room, at the northeastern corner.
- Investigation: Whisper A'Daire: " The Book of Blood. Chapter 40 Verse 37. Lilith raised Him up, and setting His hands upon her, spoke with breath hot on his neck. What ye name virtue, I call weakness, for ye Lust heartily, but have not strength nor courage enough to slake it."
Part 3: Chapter 19 Verse 12
- Zone: Gotham City
- Region: Burnley
- Instance: Mysterious Warehouse
- Location: In the final room, between the shelves by the conveyor belt under the window.
- Investigation: Whisper A'Daire: " The Book of Blood. Chapter 19 Verse 12. To your gates I came thirsty, and with water would have left contented; but ye have shown me Greed, and this I shall name the Third Lesson."
Part 4: Chapter 3 Verse 10
- Zone: Gotham City
- Region: Burnley
- Instance: Temple of Crime
- Location: By the pillar southwest of the altar.
- Investigation: Whisper A'Daire: " The Book of Blood. Chapter 3 Verse 10. Thus do I mark thee, that ye might practice Murder and take that of which the weak have no need, and so earn the right to live."
Part 5: Blood Ritual Excerpt
- Zone: Gotham City
- Region: Burnley
- Instance: Temple of Crime
- Location: Downstairs after the second room, behind a metal crate to the west.
- Investigation: Whisper A'Daire: " ...So that ye might Learn the truths that are hidden. That ye might pull secrets hidden from the very Hearts that hide them...And so see my kingdom rise anew upon the Earth. In Cain's name."

- The Tenets of of Crime are known as the "Four Lessons of Blood", which are the Religion of Crime's equivalent to the "Ten Commandments" for Jews and Christians.
- Four of the passages is are excerpts (with errors) from issues of the Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood limited series, a follow-up to the Questions storyline from the 52 series on which Gotham's Gang War, Episode 3 was based:
- The First Book of Blood is from Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood #1. The comic reproduces Verses 16-27 of Chapter 8. The original Verse 23 goes " Then the First did reveal His palm to the Caitiff and all his followers; and showing in it the Stain, spake thus, saying, By Deceit ye have freed yourself from the illusion of truth, and thus do I name this the First Lesson of Blood."
- The Second Book of Blood is from Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood #2. The comic reproduces Verses 31-40 of Chapter 40. The investigation actually reveals Verses 37-38. The original verses go " Then it was Lilith raised Him up, and setting His hands upon her, spake with breath hot on His neck. / What ye name virtue, I call weakness, for ye Lust heartily, but have not strength nor courage enough to slake it ; if thou canst not take what ye want, then ye shall ne'er command it."
- The Third Book of Blood is from Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood #3. The comic reproduces Verses 4-13 of Chapter 19. The original Verse 12 goes "To your gates I came thirsty, and with water would have left contented; but ye have shown me Greed, and this I shall name the Third Lesson ; and ye have shown me the sign that thou art its slave, and not its master."
- The Fourth Book of Blood is from Crime Bible: Five Lessons of Blood #4. The comic reproduces Verses 1-12 of Chapter 3. The investigation actually reveals Verse 11, not 10. The original Verse 11 goes "Thus do I mark thee, that ye might practice Murder and take that of which the weak have no need, and so earn thy right to live."
- The ritual is for a human sacrifice performed by Whisper A'Daire in 52 #47. The original words are " ...So that ye might learn the truths which are hidden ... That ye might pull secrets hidden from the very hearts that hide them...And so see my kingdom rise anew upon the Earth. In Cain's name."
- In the mail, The Question refers to the Diamond District, which was the original location for the Intergang Penthouse - the entrance was temporarily moved to the East End with Hotfix 23/11/22 to prevent a client crash. As of 2026, the entrance has not been moved back.
