Overview
- Captain Maggie Sawyer is a dedicated and no-nonsense member of the Metropolis Science Police; a special branch of the Metropolis police force that handles super powered menaces when Superman is unavailable.
Background
- Born in Star City, Maggie Sawyer was once married to another police officer named James Buchanan Sawyer, however, she divorced him after determining that she was a lesbian.
- Later transferred to Metropolis, Maggie served the Metropolis Police Department as a captain on the department's Special Crimes Unit.
- When Superman appeared in Metropolis, she tries to prove that the police force is more efficient than a "vigilante" in fighting crime and even tries to apprehend him on multiple occasions. Eventually, after being injured and saved by Superman during a terrorist plot, her attitude towards him changes and she eventually replaces Inspector William Henderson as the hero's primary contact in the police force.
