- This subject has been replaced or otherwise rendered obsolete by various updates, downloadable content packages, or general system upgrades.
- Synthetic Mods were Equipment Mods that could be bought with Marks of Victory, instead of being crafted with exobytes through research and development. Plans for synthetic mods do not exist and thus do not have to be researched.
- Synthetic Mods opened up higher level options of mods for free and premium players, as previously they were gated by their cash caps ($1500 and $2000 respectively).
- There were only single-stat synthetic mods. There were no orange, green or purple ones.
- Synthetic Mods were introduced with game update 33 and phased out with game update 73.

- Originally Synthetic Mods were available at PvE as well as PvP vendors. This was changed with Hotfix 21/10/14 when the mods available at PvP vendors were renamed Prefab Mods.
