Aggro

When a player does damage, healing, and power restoration, the player will be placed on an enemy's hate list (aka hate table). An enemy's hate table has a specific order. Aggro is when the natural order of the hate table is overridden. Taunting increases a players slot on the hate table, Detaunting drops them to the bottom.

Overview

  • When a player does damage, healing, and power restoration, the player will be placed on an enemy's hate list (aka hate table). An enemy's hate table has a specific order. Aggro is when the natural order of the hate table is overridden. Taunting increases a players slot on the hate table, Detaunting drops them to the bottom.
  • All Tank abilities taunt their enemies. Weapon attacks do not taunt, though they generate hate. Only the initial cast of an ability can taunt. Damage, Heal, and Power over Time abilties only taunt on cast. Same goes with Area of Effect abilities.
  • Dominance has nothing to do with aggro.
  • There are Single Target Taunt abilities which override even another tank's taunt, so that tanks have control over which of them is on the top of the hate table (the Lasso of Truth artifact makes Mesmerizing Lasso appear multi-target, however only the initial target receives the overriding taunt, the rest receive a standard taunt).
  • Certain Pets can taunt, such as a fully-boosted Sidekick. A tank taunt overrides this in much the same way as a single target taunt overrides another tank's taunt.
