Walkthrough
- This raid takes place in a very similar instance to Brainiac’s Bottleship. You begin the raid by traversing through a couple of corridors alongside Superman and Lex Luthor and take out some Brainiac enemies. Eventually you enter a windowed area where you find Brainiac.
- In general the raid is on the easier side for Normal and Elite versions currently, with high DPS burn and players blocking attacks and moving out of the way of AOEs as necessary this raid shouldn’t bring too many issues. Recommended group setup for Normal & Elite: 5 DPS, 1 Controller, 1 Heal, 1 Tank.
1st Boss: Brainiac
- Fairly straightforward boss encounter in Normal & Elite versions, especially if group members have Rank 28 Bio-Genetic Booster augments equipped. In Elite the group should be cautious of Brainiac's Blink Smack mechanic as this may cause issues if the group isn't paying attention.
- Mechanics:
- Brainiac may spawn Red Sun Drone and Brainiac Replicant adds to assist him in battle. A Red Sun Drone add may stun a targeted player, leaving them unable to move or use their abilities.
- When a Brainiac Replicant add is defeated they will leave a purple pool AOE on the floor that stays for the remainder of the boss encounter. If a player stands in this pool they will take damage over time [Brainiac Replicant Core’s Erratic Energy Field]
- Periodically, Brainiac may spawn a Sentinel Shieldbot to assist him in battle. This add will shield Brainiac, mitigating all damage towards him considerably. Players will need to KO this add as soon as possible to remove the shield.
- Blade Storm: Brainiac will have a red skull icon above his head briefly before firing three blade projectiles in a cone towards the group. These are easy to miss but if a player is hit directly and doesn’t block it may do large damage, possibly even KO in the Elite version.
- Data Spikes: Periodically Brainiac will say “Witness my power!” In VoiceOver while having a red skull icon above his head, and he will brace himself. There will be onscreen text stating: “Block Brainiac’s Data Spikes!”. Shortly after he will raise his hand in the air and spikes will appear on the ground underneath all players in the raid. This will do large damage to affected players if they don’t block and will KO in the Elite version regardless of role. (Note that this shouldn't KO affected players who aren't blocking in Normal/Elite versions with near full health *if* they have both Bio-Genetic Booster augments equipped, with at least one but ideally both at Rank 28)
- Logic Construct Cage: Brainiac may target a particular player and encase them in a cage. This does moderate damage and will stun the affected player. The player can use the R1 button to breakout of the cage.
- Energy Hand Clap: Brainiac may target a particular player and interrupt the player with a clap animation. This does mild to moderate damage.
- Blink Smack: Brainiac will have a red skull icon above his head while pointing at a particular player in the group. After a brief pause, Brainiac will blink to that player and punch the ground. The affected player should block or they will be knocked back and take large damage, possibly be KO’d in the Elite version.
- Differences/considerations for Elite plus:
- All players in the group MUST block Data Spikes regardless of augments. If even one player does not block this mechanic, all players will take massive damage and this will most likely cause a group wipe.
- After Brainiac is defeated, he will flee to a different part of the ship. The group, Superman and Lex Luthor will then traverse through several more corridors and defeat several Brainiac robots along the way. Eventually you reach another windowed room with a security terminal that you will need to activate, which them prompts Brainiac to appear again and take control of Superman and Lex Luthor.
2nd Boss: Lex Luthor & Superman
- Can be tricky for some groups if certain mechanics aren't adhered to, such as evading Superman's Heat Vision Blitz mechanic or avoiding AOEs.
- Controlled Lex Luthor is fought first, with Controlled Superman doing mechanics in the background.
- Overarching mechanics:
- Red Sun Drone adds will spawn in the fight. These can be defeated and then activated to stun Controlled Superman, stopping him from using abilities on the group for a short time. They may also stun a particular player, leaving them unable to use abilities or move, including moving out of AOE mechanics.
- Controlled Lex Luthor
- Cosmic Explosion: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head before firing a series of cosmic projectiles around the map. If these impact a group member or any friendly NPC they will explode into an AOE, dealing damage over time to affected players. These should be easily avoidable.
- Paradoxical Static: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head before unleashing a shockwave to those in close range. Affected players will then receive a green gas aura and will take considerable damage over time.
- LexCorp Surface Barrage: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head before spawning several green tells with L logos on several players. Players should evade these or missiles will land on the affected areas, dealing significant damage over time to affected players.
- LexCorp Healing Salve: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head before spawning a gas AOE on a target player/s. If these players are affected directly it will deal considerable damage over time and will likely KO if players have prolonged exposure to this.
- LexCorp Toxic Resin: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head, before channeling a green beam towards a targeted player. Anyone caught in this beam will take damage over time, and may be slowed or stunned with green bubbles around their feet - these bubbles may also explode, dealing additional damage.
- Power Suit Blast: Lex Luthor may charge towards a random player and spin around. This will deal large damage if a player is hit directly, especially if they aren't blocking.
- Gravity Well: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head, before bestowing an astral aura on a targeted player, stunning them and dealing damage over time to the affected player. This astral aura will stay for a while, so the affected player should break out of it and evade it as quickly as possible to stop the damage over time.
- Rocket Barrage: Lex Luthor will have a red skull icon above his head before firing rockets towards a target player or NPC, dealing large damage to the affected target.
- Controlled Superman
- These mechanics also apply while Controlled Lex Luthor is active in the fight:; Permafrost Breath: Controlled Superman will have a red skull icon above his head, before doing a 360 cone attack and using freezing breath on the group doing moderate damage. This can be blocked to mitigate damage and reduce the chance of getting encased in ice. In the Normal version if the player is encased in ice they can breakout themselves, (they will have a proximity marker while affected), however if other players are nearby they may be encased in ice following the breakout. In Elite another player will need to break the player out of the ice, either with melee weapon attacks or by picking up the encased player and smashing them on the floor. In Elite typically 3 players will get encased in ice during this mechanic.; Heat Vision Blitz: Superman will prepare an attack on a particular player and give them an orange proximity marker with a fire AOE. The player will need to move away from other players and the AOE, while the AOE tracks and follows the affected player for a time. If players stand too long in the AOE they will take large damage over time and may be prone to being knocked out in the Elite version in particular. (Note also that if a player is knocked out from this mechanic the AOE will linger over the fallen player for a short time, so players trying to revive the fallen player will need to have this in consideration so they don't get a heavy damage over time and potentially also get KO'd); Charge: Superman will have a red skull icon above his head and will point at a specific player in the group. After a brief pause Superman will charge that player. If the player isn’t blocking they will be knocked back and take large damage, and may be KO’d in the Elite version (especially if a non-tank role).
- These mechanics only apply when Controlled Superman is the only boss left:; Super Flare: Superman will blink to the middle of the room and have a red skull icon above his head while charging up power. The first time this occurs in all versions there will be onscreen text stating: “Block to survive Superman’s Solar Flare!”, however in Elite this will only occur on the initial occasion. Superman will then unleash a blue/gold wave of energy. Any players not blocking will take large damage in the Normal version, and will likely be KO’d in the Elite version.; Whirling Arms: Superman will blink to another part of the room and raise his fist for a time, before creating a tornado with his arms. Players should lunge this and counter it before Superman does the attack, otherwise it will deal large damage to affected players and pull them towards Superman.; Super Slam: Superman may have a red skull icon above his head, then after a short pause he will punch the ground, dealing heavy damage to affected players/allied NPCs in melee/midrange.; Focused Blast: Superman may fire a gold laser at a random player or ally NPC (including pets/henchmen etc.). Deals heavy damage.
- Differences/considerations for Elite Plus:
- All players in the group MUST block Controlled Superman's Super Flare mechanic. If even one player does not block this attack, this will cause a group wipe.
- Once Superman and Lex Luthor are free of Brainiac’s control they will assist you once again. You will then move through a few small corridors and defeat more Brainiac Robots, before facing Brainiac one last time in a larger room.
Final Boss: Brainiac
- A mostly straightforward boss encounter in Normal/Elite. In Elite the Cyberadication mechanic must be adhered to or it will cause a group wipe.
- Various adds will spawn to assist Brainiac in battle, including Brainiac Replicant LX, Brainiac Skirmisher, Brainiac Replicant.
- When a Brainiac Replicant add is defeated they will leave a purple pool AOE on the floor that stays for the remainder of the boss encounter. If a player stands in this pool they will take damage over time [Brainiac Replicant Core’s Erratic Energy Field]
(Note that this shouldn't KO affected players who aren't blocking with near full health in Normal/Elite versions *if* they have both Bio-Genetic Booster augments equipped, with at least one but ideally both at Rank 28)
- Cyberadication Mechanic:; Periodically Brainiac will teleport to the middle of the room at approximately 25/50/75% health and generate a shield, while preparing a powerful attack and having a orange icon above his head.; There will be three terminals in the room that players will need to activate quickly to remove the shield, and then a player will need to lunge Brainiac to counter him.; If Brainiac isn’t interrupted in time (approximately 10 seconds from when his shield goes up) he will unleash a powerful shockwave ( Cyberadication) to the group. In the Normal version this will deal large damage, however in the Elite version this will likely cause a group wipe.
- Differences/considerations for Elite Plus:
- All players in the group MUST block Data Spikes regardless of augments. If even one player does not block this mechanic, all players will take massive damage and this will most likely cause a group wipe.
- Once you have beat Brainiac you have completed the raid.
