Walkthrough
- Upon arrival at the League Hall, it turns out Murder Machine, who is without a physical body of his own, hijacked the systems, took over the security robots, and frees Batman Who Laughs. The latter has been imprisoned in the League Hall since Call For Allies during House of Legends (Episode), and reveals he has been captured on purpose. You will have to battle Murder Machine and destroy the central computer he is controlling.

Murder Machine · Batman Who Laughs · Call For Allies · House of Legends (Episode)First boss: Murder Machine
- The fight will start with a wave of Dark Robin adds, followed by a wave of Armor That Laughs and Heavy Armor That Laughs adds. When defeating these you can interact with the console to start uploading the virus.
- There will then be a second wave of Armor That Laughs and Heavy Armor That Laughs adds, and this time you will need to interact with the Heavy Armor That Laughs once they are defeated to progress the phase. You can then interact with the console again to progress to the next phase.
- The final phase there will be Murder Machine tentacles that will spawn around the console. These may Swipe and do damage to players if they get too close. Defeat these and interact with their respective timed icons at the same time to be able to access and interact with the console, upload the virus and complete the boss encounter.
- Other notes:
- In the final phase there will be boom tube AOEs that will spawn (there will be a brief red AOE tell before they spawn). If a player is affected by these they will continually phase up and down through the boom tubes and take damage over time. (In the combat log these are stated as Something)
- In the elite version it is best practice to defeat the Murder Machine turrets on either side of the room, as these will deal heavy damage to players ( Light Beam) and may even cause KO's. This is the most likely mechanic (if any) to cause KO's or a wipe in the elite version of this boss encounter. Make sure that the group is focusing on defeating one turret at a time, as if group members go for different turrets they will take full damage from Light Beam and be more likely to be KO'd.
- In the elite version Murder Machine drones may spawn in this boss encounter also. When they are defeated they will have a timed icon above their head with a large red AOE tell around them. If they are interacted with the red AOE tell will disappear and nothing will happen. If they aren't interacted in time they will explode, dealing considerable damage and knockback to affected players. (More info needed)
- After this, you will explore further into the League Hall and KO more Dark Robins and Armor That Laughs adds. There is an optional add ( Escaped General Kraze for heroes) that players can defeat for a feat.
- Once players get to the Power Core of the League Hall, there is a confrontation with the Batman Who Laughs who traps Myxzptlk, and reveals after Alpha Lex Luthor was disgraced at the end of Doom: Umbrax the Ultraviolet, Perpetua is looking to replace him with one of the player's team.
Second boss: Batman Who Laughs
- An interesting but doable boss encounter in the regular version, and rather tricky in the elite version, especially compared with the other two boss encounters in the alert. This is probably one of the more difficult regular elite alert boss encounters by DC Universe Online standards, and requires fairly competent players for best success.
- Recommended group setup for elite: 2 DPS, 1 Heal, 1 Tank
- In the elite version it is heavily recommended for the tank to have plenty of Chronometric Emitter consumables (from the most recent episode) equipped as they will come in very useful for the add/compound phases.
- Mechanics:
- Grounding Attack: Batman Who Laughs may do a group wide attack where he may chain to players in range, grounding them and doing moderate/considerable damage.
- Chain Pull: Sometimes following Grounding Attack, Batman Who Laughs will hard stun and pull all players towards him, and the players will need to spam a button (Square button on PS) to break out. While doing this Batman Who Laughs will have a red skull icon above his head, before punching the ground ( Ground Slam). This does heavy damage to players in melee/midrange, and knockback to all affected players in range. There is a low chance that this mechanic can be skipped depending on the group damage.
- Contagious Laughter: Sometimes a player will get stunned by a red gas and will be hysterically laughing while taking damage over time. If that affected player gets too close to another player they will spread the mechanic to that player also, stunning that player in laughter and giving them a damage over time.
Toxin phase
- Red toxin AOEs ( Environment) will spawn in various areas around the room. These do considerable damage over time if a player is stood in them and affected by them. In the elite version in subsequent phases there will be fewer of these that spawn and they will be more sporadic around the room.
- Around the time of these phases, Batman Who Laughs will spawn several adds to assist it in battle, including Dark Robin adds and two add versions of other Dark Knights, such as The Drowned, Dawnbreaker, Red Death and The Merciless. These will spawn around the edges on various sides of the room, so if you are a tank (especially in the elite version), make sure you pull and aggro all adds to you before they start attacking the group. These adds can hit hard especially in the elite version. Try where possible to stun or interrupt adds when they have a red skull icon, especially the Dark Knight adds.
- In the elite version, make sure to avoid Dawnbreaker's Dark Construct Strike and Mangle abilities, especially while other mechanics are ongoing as they are likely to do considerable damage if players are affected.
- In the elite version, be careful if The Merciless add decides to do its Divine Retribution ability, as this will do damage over time to players close enough, and try to pull players in. If this times with the compound mechanic it may be advisable for the tank to pop group immunity so players don't get pulled out of the toxin AOE at the wrong time.
- In the elite version, try if possible to stun The Merciless add's Shockwave slam ability. This slam will do a heavy cone AOE attack in front of it, knocking back players and doing very heavy damage to the affected player. Make sure as the tank that if The Merciless does this that it isn't facing the group, as it will likely KO a non-tank. Even for a tank, you will need considerable shielding, be blocking, and need minimal (if any) damage from other adds or mechanics at the time. This is one of the most likely mechanics in the elite version to cause a group wipe besides the Dark Metal Compound mechanic.
- After approximately nine seconds of the red toxin AOEs spawning, there will be onscreen text stating: "Batman Who Laughs is Preparing a Compound!" An objective on the right side of the screen will state: "Touch Toxin to Reduce Compound Damage".
- Dark Metal Compound: Batman Who Laughs will prepare a compound, and have a red fire icon with a timer above his head. The timer lasts a few seconds, and once it has run out Batman Who Laughs will use his ability. In the regular version if a player is stood in the red toxin AOE at the time of this impact, they will take moderate damage, however if they are not stood in the red toxin AOE at the time of this impact they will take considerable damage. In the elite version if a player is not stood in the red toxin AOE at this time of this impact they will be KO'd regardless of role.
- Do not stand in the red toxin AOE for longer than necessary especially in the elite version, and especially if you are taking damage from other mechanics (ie. the tank). You only need to be affected by this AOE to evade being KO'd by the Dark Metal Compound mechanic.
- Finally, when both are defeated, Mister Mxyzptlk is freed but he insists on playing several games with you. In between, you have to defeat several copies of him which is very easy; this is primarily a puzzle boss.
Last boss: Mister Mxyzptlk
- Fairly straightforward boss encounter in both regular and elite versions provided players follow the mechanics.
Mxy Says phase:
- There will be onscreen text stating: "Mxy Wants to Play a New Game"
- At the start of the phase there will be a short cutscene, and Mister Mxyzptlk will say to the group: "Oh, this is so much more fun than the 5th Dimension!"
- While commencing each emote phase, all players will be hard stunned and grounded, unable to move. When they gain emotes in their loadout there will be onscreen text stating: "Mxy Has Given You New Powers!".
- At the start of the boss encounter and in between emote phases there will be a few Mister Mxyzptlk adds that will spawn. Defeat them as soon as possible. In the elite version the tank should aggro and pull them so they don't attack the other group members directly.
Regular version
- Mxyzptlk says: Do the emote he says!
- Your abilities will be replaced by 4 emotes.
- The correct emote's image will also be displayed above Mxy.
- You can also check by opening the actions menu (F1 key by default) and scrolling down to Current Abilities - they are, from 1 to 4, "Laugh!", "Dance!", "Beg!", and "Be Afraid!" (Mxyzptlk calls the last one "Cower").
- If you do the wrong one, he will blast you for ~70% of your max health.
- There will be 3 emote phases to complete in the regular version.
Elite version
- There will be no onscreen text when Mxyzptlk wants you to do a particular emote, however the correct emote's image will still be displayed above him.
- Furthermore your abilities will be replaced by 6 emotes rather than 4.
- If you do the wrong emote you will be KO'd regardless of role.
- There will be 4 emote phases to complete in the elite version.
Dice and turrets phase:
- There will be onscreen text stating: "Mxy Wants to Play a New Game"
- Two giant dice appears. Pick up and drop them to roll them. There will be onscreen text when this occurs stating: "Smash the Dice!".
- Add the two numbers up, then destroy the equivalent number of turrets. There are 6 turrets in total.
- If you get the number wrong, he will also blast you (the combat log will imply that Mister Mxyzptlk is attacking you directly, and the blast does not have a mechanic name specifically).
- In the elite version if you get the number wrong it will likely do very heavy damage or probably KO most or all of the group, resulting in a group wipe.
- There will be a few Mister Mxyzptlk adds that will spawn. Defeat them as soon as possible. In the elite version the tank should aggro and pull them so they don't attack the other group members directly.
Presents and balls phase:
- There will be onscreen text stating: "Mxy Wants to Play a New Game"
- There will then be onscreen text stating: "Avoid the Bouncy Balls and Destroy Presents to Play Mxy's Game!"
- Similar to The Vault, destroy all presents while dodging several 5th Dimensional Bouncy Ball that would damage, ground you and knock you back. If a present isn't destroyed by the time its timer expires, miniature Dark Knight themed adds ( Red Death, The Merciless, The Drowned, Dawnbreaker) will spawn.
- There will be a few Mister Mxyzptlk adds that will spawn. Defeat them as soon as possible. In the elite version the tank should aggro and pull them so they don't attack the other group members directly.
- It is best practice in the elite version if all players have Brawling as a weapon, have Weapon Mastery unlocked and be using the Shuriken Storm Mastery weapon combo for this phase. It will make destroying the presents significantly easier.
- Upon winning all games, Mxyzptlk finally relents and agrees to open a doorway to the Sixth Dimension, from which the Sixth Dimension Superman emerges. Martian Manhunter intends to go and convince the World Forger to aid against Perpetua.

Trivia
- Despite the first boss encounter being against various drones and tentacles of Murder Machine, the group does not fight Murder Machine himself directly. We encounter Murder Machine in the Dark Knights episode later, both as a bounty in the Death Metal Washington D.C. open world, and as one of the subbosses in the second boss encounter in the Dark Knights: The Source Wall raid.
- This is the first and so far only content released in DC Universe Online that has utilised the emotes system as part of a boss mechanic in the last boss encounter.
