Kahndaq's capital Shiruta was destroyed by the Four Horsemen of Apokolips, who were brought to life by the Science Squad in Oolong Island. They also took the lives of Black Adam's wife Isis and her brother Osiris.[1]

Black Adam captures Felix Faust, Brother Blood, Doctor Fate, Giganta, and Zatanna to use their powers for a ritual to resurrect Isis. By Adam's orders, Faust turns the waters of the aqueduct of Shiruta into a magical Lazarus pit, but the Lazarus waters end up also raising multiple undead Kahndaqian soldiers.
Talia al Ghul takes it as a offense to her family, as the original Lazarus Pit is her family's weapon, and sends the new villains to punish Adam. They stop the flood, defeat the undead army and gain access to the Palace of Kahndaq. They subdue Black Adam as Faust's ritual backfires, raising a zombified Isis instead. The villains release Blood and Giganta and leave Kahndaq, leaving Fate and Zatanna to fend for themselves.
The Martian Manhunter sends a Justice League alert to the new heroes with a mission to save Kahndaq from Faust's magic. The contain the flood of Lazarus waters by sealing the aqueducts, defeating the undead army that tries to stop them. They gain access to Black Adam's palace and find the ritual has already started. They defeat Black Adam as Faust's ritual fails due to the waters being tainted - instead of resurrecting Isis, they raise her undead self. The heroes liberate the captives.
Black Adam, Isis, and Faust flee. The Lazarus waters were contained and Kahndaq is given some peace to heal from the recent events.

Rip Hunter's Time Sphere got sabotaged by Abra Kadabra by the orders of Vandal Savage, leaving him stranded in ancient Kahndaq during one of his time travels - specifically, in a time shortly after Black Adam's first wife and children were murdered. He contacts the new heroes and villains along with the Legends of Tomorrow to recover and fix another Time Sphere from a Mercenary Base to pick him up. As rescue arrives, Rip lets his associates know that something's not right. They find out that Savage intended to become ruler of Kahndaq, but the team defeat the usurper and return to their time.
