Overview
- Nth Metal is the core reagent for upgrading Artifacts. Once player characters have acquired their first Artifact, they will be able to find Nth Metal as a rare drop from defeating NPCs. In addition, large caches of Nth Metal will become available by completing the Stabilizer Event.
- Nth Metal comes in various qualities, with rarer, more refined pieces granting larger amounts of Item Experience when used to fortify an Artifact in possession.
- Nth Metal can no longer be used to fortify Adaptive and Origin Augments since mid-2020.

- Nth Metal drops from enemies and nodes for the players of level 23 and up, even if they haven't completed the Artifacts mission.
- Any defeated NPC
- Any collection node
- Any Exo-Material node
- Stabilizer Fragmentation
- The Vault (deprecated)
- Doctor Fate's Daily Rewards
- For defeating NPCs and collecting from nodes, there is a hidden cooldown of about 3 minutes before Nth metal can be obtained from them again. It appears that NPCs solely defeated by pets cannot yield Nth metal - likely to prevent players from idling at low-level mobs and passively gaining Nth metal by having permanent pets automatically retaliate.

Trivia
- Previously, for the same type of Nth Metal, there are account bound (tradable to other characters on your account) and untradeable forms. Defeating NPCs gives the former, while Stabilizer Fragmentation and Daily Rewards give the latter. Only the same form would stack. Currently, they all give the same account bound versions.
