Introduction

  • The modern superhero and supervillain is always evolving, seeking out and utilizing the latest magic, metagenes, and tech available for advantage in the field. For years, this has meant a focus on the Research and Development of combat equipment mods powered by Exobit fragments left over from Lex Luthor's desperate gambit to prepare the world for Brainiac. This technology has served the world well, but a new breakthrough is on the horizon that leading scientists and engineers think will make equipment mods obsolete. Why modify gear, when the technology may soon exist to modify the body?
  • Designed to supplant and replace the R&D mod system, Augments are similar to but go beyond equipment mods. Instead of socketing into gear like mods, Augments socket into your character's body directly, rank up like Artifacts, and provide a wide array of new bonuses and stats.

The System

  • Augments will be unlocked once a character reaches level 25. They can be equipped by accessing the Augments tab in their Inventory menu. Each character has 8 slots total, which dedicated to different types of augments. They're grouped in subsections - Origin and Adaptive Augments are listed by item level from highest to lowest, and Power Array Augments are listed by rank from highest to lowest. Augments with the same level/rank are listed in alphabetical order. They can be ranked up under the Fortify tab in the Inventory menu.

Mods

  • When you log into the game if you are past Level 25, you will find all Origin Augments now automatically available under your Augments tab in the Inventory menu.
  • You also now have an auto-completed mission in your Mission Journal called Building a Power Base. Completing this mission grants you Augment XP in the form of Golden Exobytes that can be fed to your Augments. The Exobytes you receive are based on your player character’s CR when you complete the mission.

Crafting

  • The ability to craft gear mods or generator mods has been removed, leaving enhanced styles and consumables to craft only. Old items such as old exobytes, simple materials, complex materials, scraps, exobits, and other random crafting items are now worth Augment XP and can be fed into your Augments.
  • There is a new crafting ingredient called Exo-Material, which replaces the crafting requirements of removed crafting items in all remaining recipes.

Trivia

  • Augments are boosted to relevant levels if in an event version of an episode. All Adaptive Augments are boosted to the same level of stats regardless of type. Origin Augments are boosted to 1 level below the item level that would result in a Combat Rating at the minimum of the episode ( Metal Part II requires 276 CR, or a weighted average item level of 240, thus Origin Augments are boosted to level 239).
  • Game Update 171introduced the following changes to fortification:; To reduce clutter, the Fortify tab no longer displays max-rank artifacts or augments.; Selecting a large stack of reagents will now only insert into the preview as many items as are needed to reach the next Milestone Rank. You can still select the reagents a second time to use the entire stack if you wish.
  • Prior to Game Update 172, Origin and Adaptive Augments were listed by rank from highest to lowest, and augments with the same rank were listed in alphabetical order.
