Notes

  • Shadow Curse has a number of its parameters explicitly listed in the ability description.
  • It has a relatively short range of 13m. In comparison, ordinary ranged weapon basic attacks have a range of about 24m (which is also the range where the red targeting reticle on the targeted mob turns grey). There are some ranged abilities with shorter range though, like Ambush: Pain Blast (~11m).
  • It deals damage in a 22 degree cone (this is marginally narrower than 1/4 of a right angle). Shadow Curse will deal full damage to multiple targets up to at least 5 targets.
  • It has a Superpower Modifier listed as "14 x5" which is slightly misleading. As the in-game Stats page defines, Might determines the damage of superpowers - "Superpower Damage = Superpower Modifier * Might". Shadow Curse's Superpower Modifier under this definition is actually 0.14 x 5. Unlike most abilities, Shadow Curse's damage has no random variation and will always hit the exact same numbers under identical situations. In the absence of other effects, Shadow Curse will always hit 0.14 times of your Might stat 5 times (e.g. if you have 100000 Might, Shadow Curse will hit 14000 five times, or 70000 damage total).
  • It lists an Ambush modifier as 17.5 x5, but it is unknown what this indicates. If Shadow Curse is used to break Stealth, it deals one additional hit of damage (on the first enemy hit, not the specified target). This is considered to be damage dealt by the stealth ability (0.4x of Might for Invisibility), and thus has random variation and does not benefit from the 75% health damage bonus.
  • If the target is above 75% health, Shadow Curse deals 25% extra damage (each hit calculated separately).
  • Shadow Curse generates 41 Supercharge twice, on the 1st and 4th hit, for 82 total.

Trivia

  • It is based on one of Ebon's attacks in Shock: Abandoned Subway, and the feat for unlocking it references one of his lines in the instances.
  • Shadow Curse is the first Iconic Power to not be released at the beginning of the game, and the first to require being unlocked before it can be purchased. It is also the first to have a unique icon with a fixed palette that does not adapt to the theme of player Powers.
  • Voivode can use this ability in Raging Night: Aftershock.
