Overview
- Along with the UI revamp of the events system, a new reward system was introduced in early 2025. During a given period of time certain content has to be played regularly to receive extra rewards for event progression. This progression system is not limited to seasonal events, any content or promotion may feature it.
- Progress is shown on the new events user interface and player characters have the option to buy out progression not achieved, up to the full period of time.

- Event Challenges
- Complete 1 (or more) Event Challenge(s) to earn progress each day. The event tab will display an alert icon (!) when daily progress is available, and the Event Challenges are displayed at the right portion.
- Progress Cooldown
- Once you have earned progress by completing an Event Challenge, there will be a 20 Hour Cooldown before you can continue to earn progress. During that time you can still play Event Challenges for mission rewards.
- Incompletion
- If you have not earned enough progress to complete the Event by the time the Event ends, you still have an opportunity to Buyout the Event and receive the Event rewards until . The price of the Buyout is pro-rated based a the amount of progress that you have earned. Only valid for non- Patrol events with a set time limit after the event ends (listed on the Reward Reclaim tab).

Event Rewards
- Rewards
- There are 2 to 4 rewards available per event - except for the Campaign, that grants only 1 reward. Every event grants 1 exclusive reward and a certain amount of relevant currency; seasonal events grant a non-exclusive, but rare, reward.
- Claiming Rewards
- Rewards can be claimed once the UI shows that the progress bar is complete. Before claiming rewards, be aware that:
- Exclusive rewards are not tradable, but every character in the account can claim them directly from the Events tab.
- Non-exclusive rewards are account bound, but is only available once per account, so only one character can benefit from it.
Trivia
- The Events tab has a warp option to the current event, and it works even in combat, unlike the map's warp option.
- Although Event Challenges list the Casual version of instances, normal or elite versions will count.
- The Love Conquers All 2025 event was the first one to not have its own image, using a generic image of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman instead, until it got one after the event ended with Game Update 153.
- The "Featured" event progression replaced the daily mission for free episode-related currency for the latest DLC.
- The in-game menu lists four categories for rewards: Choice Reward, Once per Account, Once per Character, and Fully Reclaimable. These notations are used in the tool tip for each reward to describe, respectively, that the reward can be: chosen from a list, claimed one time by the active character only, claimed one time on all current and future characters, or claimed an unlimited time across all current and future characters on a player's account.
- Initially, currency rewards would go directly to the character in player's account that first claimed the rewards, thus could not be transferred to other characters in same account. This was later changed as the currency is now given in packs, allowing for players to give them to other characters.
- The time limit for Event Buyout was implemented in a patch in April 29, 2025. Updated again in June, 2026.
- It is possible for event challenges to change during the event. For example, the 2025 Legendary Heroes Event had one of its challenges changed daily, each related to a major character in the 2025 Superman film.
- 2026 Patrol 2: Fearful Day launched a day earlier than anticipated following an unexpected emergency maintenance shutdown in the evening (US time) on May 4, 2026.
- Trouble Alert Daily Event was introduced with Game Update 170 on June 16, 2026 which sends players back into open world zones from across DCUO's history to run three randomly selected daily missions featured as event challenges to earn a daily account-wide reward choice of Nth Metal or Ally Favor.
