- Regarding Parts 1, 3, and 4, there are two versions of the story of Calculha, Majistra, Arion, and Garn Daanuth.; They were created as part of the New Earth continuity by Doug Moench and Jan Duursema for the Sword and Sorcery series Arion Lord of Atlantis as a back-up for the Warlord title, debuting in 1982 in Warlord #55 through #62 before getting its own title, which ran from 1982 to 1985. That is the most fleshed-out version of the characters, and it is said they are Zatanna's ancestors.; In the Prime Earth continuity, Calculha and Majistra were reintroduced by Bryan Hitch during the Timeless storyline in 2017. Arion, however, first appeared in that continuity in the previous year in Secret Six #8. Garn Daanuth was first mentioned in Wonder Woman Vol. 5 #51 (2018), effectively appearing in New History of the DC Universe #1 in 2025. In this version, they're Aquaman's ancestors, and only Arion was properly developed by the release of the Atlantis episode in November 2018. No significant change was made to the characters' lore, which makes the overall events of Arion Lord of Atlantis still relevant to date.
- Parts 5, 6, and 7 refer to the events of the 1986 Aquaman limited series:; In the original story, the six crystals Ocean Master retrieved were Aries, Gemini, Leo, Capricornus, Aquarius, and Pisces. In Part 7, it's stated that Corum Rath finds the location of the other 6 crystals; however, during the final battle in Atlantis: The Throne, he uses the crystals of Sagittarius, Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, Cancer and, yet again, Aries. Whether the developers had mistaken the illustrations in the comics or not, one must presume that, in the DCUO version of the storyline, Ocean Master used the Libra Crystal instead of the Aries Crystal.; Its storyline introduced Thierna Na Oge, the underwater city where the Orichalcum metal is native.
- The Zodiac Crystals first appeared in the New Earth continuity in Arion Lord of Atlantis #4 (1983), created by Doug Moench and Jan Duursema. The Crystals' first appearance in the Prime Earth continuity was in Justice League Vol. 3 #2 (2016) during the Extinction Machines storyline by Bryan Hitch.
