Walkthrough

  • The player, Carol, and Luzia start at a cave before entering a village, where Esperanza should be. Carol warns of Yellow Lanterns ahead, while Luzia accompany you.
  • Much of the non-boss combat can be skipped. When you enter the instance, there is a crowd of Yellow Lanterns ahead you can simply ignore by passing near the ceiling (this works a lot in this challenge). When you arrive at the entrance of a tunnel, defeat the 3 Shadow Demons, then destroy the boulder to unblock the tunnel.
  • Investigate the corpse and you'll be attacked by waves of zombies. Although this is not a boss and the zombies have relatively low health, they can add up to a lot of damage in Elite - faster than any of the bosses in this challenge, so be aware. Esperanza joins halfway through, saying they are creations of Luzia's fear, and there must be a powerful Yellow Lantern nearby.
  • You then need to go north - but before reaching the group of Yellow Lanterns, interact with the dead villager. You are then prompted to go to near the northernmost point. You can pass the Yellow Lanterns again by going near the ceiling. There should be a dead alien in a sitting position next to a tree, but there is no interaction option. You need to KO that one Amon Corps Intimidator that is closest to her - which would unlock the interact; none of the others need to be fought. This one mob does not spawn unless you interact with the dead villager before group of Yellow Lanterns.

Carol Ferris

  • Carol is found immediately to the west - overwhelmed by fear, she mistakes you as enemies and attacks. She can use a few stuns like Encase but they can be broken out of and they don't do much damage. She has a lethal attack, Absolute Devotion; after charging in place for a few seconds, she blasts the area for massive damage. It can be blocked, and she can be interrupted with crowd control while charging.
  • Carol can be defeated without input by hiding on a ceiling and letting Luzia/Esperanza do all the work, but it takes a long time and you need to deal at least some damage to get loot.

Shadow Demon

  • After defeating Carol, she realises you are allies. An ominous voice speaks and transports you into a dark cave with many Shadow Demons. Follow Esperanza's blue orb and defeat all of them.
  • There is a segment where you reunite with the sisters and they form a combined Blue/Indigo circle on the ground which prevents Shadow Demons from entering, but they can still hit with ranged attacks. Although technically you can go to the boss without clearing this, it is easier to defeat all demons here first since they would follow you to the boss fight.
  • Near the end of the cave is a giant Shadow Demon boss fight. It has the exact same attacks as the Shadow Demon Archon in Stabilizer Fragmentation and is a very straightforward fight.

Lyssa Drak

  • When you exit the cave, stay on the ceiling again which prevents Shadow Demon ambushes from spawning. Then, go to the back of an existing Shadow Demon pack - you only need to KO one of them to get Lyssa Drak to appear, although the others in that group is close enough you'd get aggro anyway.
  • Lyssa Drak can be quite annoying as she summons Snake Constructs that would frequently hard stun you, requiring you to mash buttons to get free sooner. She could also summon Skull Constructs around the area that knocks you back like bumpers in a pinball machine. Upon falling to several health thresholds, she disappears and several Shadow Demons appear; she returns if you defeat all Shadow Demons, or take too long.
  • You can simply let Luzia and Esperanza defeat her by standing on a ceiling. Snake Constructs can appear on the ceiling and ground you, but they cannot stun or damage you there. You need to hit her once at some point to get loot, but make sure you don't attack Lyssa while up there or she can reset her health to full.
  • When Lyssa is defeated, the sisters talk - but shockingly, Lyssa fires a final shot, piercing through Esperanza's chest, before teleporting away, dodging Luzia's desperate retaliation. With Esperanza's death, Luzia is transformed into a Gray Lantern while reciting the oath, as it begins to rain and Mogo starts to turn gray as well.
  • All days are neither dark or bright...
  • ...gray sorrow grips my soul so tight.
  • When dearest hope seems all but lost...
  • ...my broken heart will pay the cost.

Trivia

  • This is likely the first time a Gray Lantern appeared in a DC adaptation, being a recent and relatively unknown addition to the comics. The first and at the time only Gray Lantern is Nathan Broome. Carol's line in the challenge about recognising Luzia's state is a reference to how Nathan Broome was her ex-fiance. Luzia's Lantern Corps symbol is identical to his - although hers is positioned like a brooch on her hooded cloak rather than the more typical chest logo.
