Walkthrough

  • Throughout most of the challenge, you are grounded and a sorrow meter constantly fills and must be emptied in Blue Lantern fields or you would go gray and constantly lose health. Brother Warth instructs you to activate two large crystals near him. Interact with each of the Blue Lanterns next to them, then defeat the mobs that appear until the crystals are turned blue. One crystal would spawn a large Melancholic Mass with a lot of health. Gray Lanterns can be a hassle; they can drop a Concentrated Sorrow Field that forces you to move out of them, use a continuous Light Blast (interruptible), and Somber Grasp that should be blocked when prompted or a chain would drag you to them.
  • After finishing those two crystals, Brother Warth tells you to climb without him. You must convert a series of crystals to blue similarly up to the summit, although the mobs are much easier here. Some Blue Lanterns are beyond your help and would turn Gray when interacted with; this is not always the same on each playthrough (getting this 100% correct is required for a feat).
  • Near the summit, you find Saint Walker; clear the mobs and he turns the crystal blue as well, leaving only Luzia. You do not fight Luzia directly. Instead, you first have to clear mobs while Saint Walker converts three crystals. Every time a crystal is converted, a Construct of the Reckoning spawns and must be killed as well. The sorrow meter fills faster here - becoming completely full about 17 seconds after leaving a Blue Lantern field.
  • Only weak Sorrow Constructs spawn while Saint Walker is turning the crystal blue. However, on the second and third crystal, while fighting the Construct of the Reckoning, the most dangerous mechanic in Elite appears: Melancholy Miasma, a vertical beam that would chase you for a considerable time, deals constant massive damage on contact and could be hard to see due to being gray on gray. On the third crystal, the Construct of the Reckoning gains Sorrow Surge, marking a red cone on the ground before dealing massive damage in it, and Exobyte Steal which temporarily disables your abilities.
  • Once the last crystal is cleared, Luzia blasts Saint Walker and Guy Gardner, but Saint Walker turns you into a Blue Lantern. The sorrow meter still fills, but at a slower rate so it only becomes full after about a minute and is generally not much of a concern. All three crystals are gray again and you must reconvert them yourself by moving near them. Similar to RN: Nekron's Lair, being turned into a Blue Lantern gives you a new set of abilities.
  • Pacifying Strike: (Cooldown: 0.5s) Throws a shield-like projectile in a single-target attack.
  • Hopewave: (Cooldown: 6s) Shoots a wave of energy in front of you.
  • Empowering Pulse: (Cooldown: 6s) Heals you and deals damage to nearby enemies.
  • Surging Barrier: (Cooldown: 25s) Heals you and applies a Shield Power lasting 12 seconds if not broken.
  • Beacon of Hope: (Cooldown: 31s) Creates a Blue Lantern field that quickly drains the sorrow meter and heals you over time when stood upon (does not move with you).
  • Luzia can still use Melancholy Miasma, and may summon spikes at your location after a delay that does no damage (possible bug). Other than Sorrow Constructs, Fragments of Woe appear and fly to your location before using Shatter for massive damage before disappearing (ignores Shield Powers). After the first crystal is converted, Gray Lanterns begin to appear (having Surging Barrier active count as blocking their Somber Grasp).
  • In general while the damage can add up quickly in Elite, just spamming abilities 1-3 mows down enemies fast enough. The challenge is also very forgiving towards progress (even in Elite), and you can generally pick up where you were KO'ed, even during the final fight with crystals half-converted, without needing to restart.
  • If you are KO'ed during the third Construct of the Reckoning fight and Guy finishes it off, this would cause you to go into cutscene and transition into the final phase without becoming a Blue Lantern, which could make the final phase much harder.
  • Upon converting all crystals, Luzia sees a vision, revealing to her that Esperanza had a daughter, and passes the Blue Lantern ring to Luzia.

Trivia

  • The existence of Esperanza's daughter, Hope, is hinted at in HBB: Matron's Orphanage. There is a child's drawing of Kennik with a girl who looks similar to Hope where Kennik and the other kids are held.
  • If your style would normally display an emblem, the Blue Lantern emblem is temporarily displayed in its place while transformed.
  • The plot of this challenge may be intended to parallel Saint Walker's own origin story in comics, where after the loss of his family, he climbed to the summit of a mountain and became the first Blue Lantern. In the adaptation Green Lantern: The Animated Series, that story occurred on Mogo.
  • In Shadows Over Argo, it is revealed that SPOILER Hope herself, using her Mental abilities, projected the vision to Luzia.
