Overview
- Gameplay is initiated for all characters at a common entry point: The Brainiac Harvester Ship. From there, based on the Mentors and morality chosen, the player character is assigned a series of Mentor-based Missions. Missions are the main way to gain experience which is required to increase level in the game. Missions are tracked and designated active via the Journal tab on the Menu Interface.
- Initial missions are assigned by the primary mentor and are unique to that mentor. As levels and renown increase, the characters skills are solicited by the other senior members of the JLA or Secret Society. Some of these missions are unique to Morality (hero or villain). Some parallel the opposing morality and tell a story from either the hero or villain perspective.
- Each mission set is composed of a series of sub-missions assigned by the mentor and can include bonus Side Missions related to the current mission given by NPCs encountered in the game near the main mission area. At the end of a mission set, a Headline is generated and a video plays to conclude the effort. Multiple mission sets can comprise a Story Arc.
- As levels increase, characters are contacted for special team-based missions, deployment into specific locations, or concerning warrants and bounties placed on specific high profile targets. In summary, PvE missions can be labeled as follows:
- Classic Game Story Missions (Categorized as "Main Missions" in the Journal)
- Story Arc Missions:; Story Missions; Daily Missions; Weekly Missions
- Instancebased missions:; Challenges; Duos; Alerts; Raids; Operations
- Bounties
- Side Missions
- Exploration Missions
- Each morality faction has its own missions or sees shared missions from their unique perspective as described in the following articles:
- Hero Missions
- Villain Missions
- In addition to these story-based missions, there are also:
- Races
- Arena PvP
- Legends PvP
